The Cosmic Classroom: Are We More Than We Think?

Journeying to the Depths: Consciousness and the Cosmic Call

Humanity has long been haunted by questions of who we are and why we exist. As a product of evolution, I see life as a precious chance to experience our world in all its complexity. We've moved beyond the struggle for survival; our minds seek knowledge, connection, and a deeper understanding of our place in the cosmos. This search for meaning drives us forward and inspires us to explore the depths of our existence.

Consciousness Beyond the Brain:

But what if our consciousness is more than a product of our physical brains? What if it's a thread in a much larger tapestry, a cosmic intelligence that connects us all? This is the intriguing idea explored by Paul Von Ward in his book "Children of a Living Universe." He challenges us to consider that we are not merely isolated beings on a lonely planet but rather part of a vast, interconnected network of consciousness. This concept resonates with the fascinating theory that our reality might be a sophisticated simulation, a notion that underscores just how much we don't yet know.

Von Ward's research delves into ancient texts and modern science, suggesting that consciousness may be a fundamental aspect of the universe. This raises profound questions about the nature of our reality and the limits of our perception. If consciousness extends beyond our minds, what are the implications for our understanding of life, death, and the universe?

The Search for Purpose in a Cosmic Context:

The question of "why we are here" takes on new dimensions when considering the possibility of cosmic intelligence. If we are indeed "children of a living universe," as Von Ward suggests, then our purpose might be intertwined with the evolution of consciousness on a cosmic scale. We are here to learn, grow, and contribute to the unfolding story of the universe.

Imagine our lives as part of a "cosmic curriculum," a series of experiences designed to help us evolve and contribute to the greater good. This perspective encourages us to see challenges not as obstacles but as opportunities for growth and learning. It also highlights the importance of unity and collaboration, as we are all interconnected threads in this grand cosmic tapestry.

Bridging the Gap Between Science and Religion:

In our quest for understanding, science, and religion have valuable roles. Science provides us with tools to explore the physical world, while religion offers frameworks for meaning and morality. By embracing both, we can gain a more complete picture of reality.

Von Ward's work exemplifies the potential for a symbiotic relationship between science and religion. He draws on scientific evidence and ancient spiritual traditions to explore the mysteries of consciousness and our cosmic origins. This approach demonstrates that collaboration between these two fields can lead to new insights and a deeper understanding of our place in the universe.

Hypnosis: A Gateway to Inner Wisdom and Cosmic Connection

In my own journey of exploration, I've found hypnosis to be a profound tool for accessing deeper levels of consciousness and connecting with my inner wisdom. It's like entering a state of heightened awareness, where the boundaries between the conscious and subconscious mind dissolve. In this space, I've experienced a sense of interconnectedness, a feeling of being part of something larger than myself, which resonates deeply with Von Ward's concept of "cosmic intelligence."

Hypnosis has allowed me to tap into a realm of understanding that often eludes my conscious mind. It's in these hypnotic states that the insights from my psychedelic experiences and my contemplations on spirituality indeed come alive. The connections between seemingly disparate ideas become apparent, and a sense of wholeness emerges.

However, these profound realizations can sometimes feel distant or fragmented as I return to my conscious awareness. This is where the real work begins—integrating these subconscious insights into my conscious life. Hypnosis plays a vital role in this integration, helping me reprogram old patterns and beliefs that no longer serve me. It's like creating new pathways in the brain, allowing my conscious mind to align with the deeper truths revealed in those expanded states of awareness.

Both hypnosis and psychedelic experiences offer unique avenues for exploring the depths of consciousness and connecting with a sense of the cosmic. They provide glimpses into the vast unknown, inviting us to question our assumptions and expand our understanding of reality. By embracing these tools for exploration and integrating the insights they provide, we can move towards a more authentic and fulfilling life in alignment with our true nature as "children of a living universe."

Conclusion:

We are at a pivotal point in human history, a time of rapid technological advancement and profound societal change. As we navigate this complex landscape, we must remember that we are more than biological machines. We are beings of consciousness, connected to something larger than ourselves.

By embracing the vastness of the unknown, fostering collaboration between science and religion, and exploring the depths of our consciousness, we can unlock our true potential and create a future defined by peace, unity, and a profound understanding of our place in the cosmos.

The Blooming from Within: My Mindbloom Ketamine Story - Session 2

In my previous post, I shared my experience with the first session of Mindbloom's ketamine therapy program for anxiety. Here's what happened during my second session:

Personalized Treatment: After my first session, I completed a follow-up assessment through the app. This allowed my clinician to adjust the medication dosage for a customized treatment plan.

Scheduling Flexibility: Scheduling follow-up sessions is convenient. I simply messaged my guide, Constantine, through the app, and he explained the "rule of three" for this program.  The first three ketamine sessions are spaced four days apart, followed by three weekly sessions. My second session was scheduled for Saturday, March 30th.

Pre-Session Routine: Similar to the first session, I prepared for the second one by showering, dimming the lights, lighting a candle, and placing a bowl near my bed. I also wrote down an intention for the session, focusing on releasing negativity and embracing new beginnings.

The Journey Continues: This time, I felt a sense of familiarity as the ketamine took effect. Knowing what to expect from the disassociation this time allowed me to delve deeper into the Altered State of Consciousness. The disassociation was physical and mental, transporting me to a space where I could explore profound questions about existence and consciousness. It wasn't limited to the physical world but a broader sense of being.

Integration and Community: These experiences resonated with my ongoing exploration of life's more significant questions. My interest in these topics led me to fantastic resources like Tom Campbell's book "My Big Toe" and Dr. Gabor Mate's work on addiction and trauma.
Mindbloom's integration circles held virtually on Zoom, have been another valuable aspect of the program.  Connecting with others who share similar experiences fosters a sense of community and provides opportunities for shared learning.

Considering Ketamine Therapy? If you're curious about ketamine therapy for anxiety, I highly recommend researching it. Mindbloom isn't the only provider; companies like Joyous and BetterU offer similar services. However, Mindbloom's focus on integration between sessions truly sets them apart.
This concludes my experience with the second ketamine session. Stay tuned for future posts where I'll share more about my journey and the ongoing impact of this treatment. In the next post, I'll explore the concept of consciousness that emerged during my second session in more detail.

The Blooming from Within: My Mindbloom Ketamine Story

The Blooming from Within: My Mindbloom Ketamine Story

Who is Mindbloom?

Mindbloom is a company that aims to improve mental health by expanding access to science-backed treatments. Its focus is on guided ketamine therapy, which is aimed at alleviating symptoms of depression and anxiety. Through online consultations with licensed clinicians, Mindbloom creates personalized treatment plans with at-home ketamine lozenges, all supported by a user-friendly app with educational resources and guided meditations.

What is Ketamine?

Summary - Excerpt from Integration on the phone application.

“Ketamine is a fast-acting antidepressant that decreases anxiety and depression in several ways.

One way that ketamine helps treat mental health issues is by quieting a system of the brain that contributes to persistent, negative thoughts, the default mode network (DMN). Negative thoughts are a common symptom of anxiety and depression.

Ketamine also fuels new connections and synapses in the brain, allowing for the regrowth of damaged ones. This may help people suffering from anxiety and depression change existing negative thought patterns.

When paired with support, these neurological changes can help decrease anxiety and depression symptoms.

While its primary use is as an anesthetic, ketamine is increasingly being used as a fast-acting treatment for anxiety and depression. It has been used in this manner for at least two decades. But how exactly does it affect the brain to help achieve positive mental health outcomes?”

Start: March 20th. 2024

On March 20th, 2024, I began my journey with Mindbloom. Why did I choose Mindbloom? The website's voice resonated with me deeply, like a long-lost friend. My preparation went smoothly, and Alan H., the friendly clinician, assessed me for the program. I was accepted and received the kit promptly: the box arrived on Saturday after my Wednesday consultation, with the medication following on Monday. There was a minor snag - the pharmacy sent the confirmation number late, and the mailman signed for the package (a Schedule 3 substance!) and left it in my mailbox. Following Alan's instructions, I scheduled my first guided session for Wednesday next week. From the website's profiles, I chose Constantine as my guide - he seemed the best fit for me. My friend agreed to be my Peer Monitor for each session.

March 26. 2024

My choice of Constantine proved to be excellent. Constantine's calm demeanor and genuine warmth instantly put me at ease. He patiently guided me through the first session, held half an hour before my ketamine treatment at home. He also explained the session flow, listened attentively, and asked insightful questions about my intentions and reasons for choosing Mindbloom. Their website truly resonated with me, and the app is a treasure trove of information, offering guided meditations that feel like stepping into a sanctuary. It’s - user-friendly, informative (with detailed information about ketamine), and packed with valuable features. It offers guided meditations, session recording capabilities, and a beautiful music collection I love.

Experience in the first session.

The session video began with a calming introduction, a soothing male voice guiding me through the first seven minutes after medication intake. Intermittent bells signaled the time to spit. The following music washed over me in waves - a symphony of serenity that transported me to a place of inner peace. During the first session, the ketamine unfolded within me like a kaleidoscope of space in the Universe. Emotions of love wrapped around me in a cloud-like cotton feeling, sparking a sense of profound clarity. I saw images of stars and nebulas swirling in the depths. After an hour, I got up, feeling literally speechless and calmer than ever before. My body moved slowly, but my mind buzzed with the afterglow of the experience. My fingers danced on my lap, a nervous energy coursing through me. A smile stretched across my face, more expansive than I realized; I was happy. My mind buzzed with possibilities, eager to see where this journey would take me. I started mentally listing things I wanted to accomplish, fueled by a newfound sense of optimism. A thrill ran through me; a positive change seemed promising. The world seemed brighter, possibilities shimmering on the horizon. I couldn't wait to share this experience with my friends, the words tumbling over each other in my mind.

To be continued...This is just the beginning of my Mindbloom journey! In my next post, I'll share more about my experience with the app, including the guided meditations and educational resources. I'll delve deeper into the science behind ketamine and its potential benefits for mental health. Stay tuned!

Ketamine and Depression How it works: Yale Explains - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nW21-AYY_fs
Excerpt from the above Yale video: “We think that one of the things that Ketamine does, that helps to explain its antidepressant effects, is helping the brain to regrow the synapses, the connections between nerve cells,” says John Krystal, MD, Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Yale. Because Ketamine seems to work on a totally different system in the brain than typical antidepressants, “that may be why Ketamine works so well, even for patients who have not had success with a number of standard antidepressants,” says Dr. Katz. Ketamine as a treatment for depression gained FDA approval last year with the release of Spravato (esketamine), and for now, it remains a treatment reserved for patients who haven’t found success with at least two other antidepressant therapies.
